With Psychonauts 2 right around the corner, fans are eager to jump back into the adventures of Raz and the mind. Being that the game is coming hugely from Microsoft and Xbox, some are wondering if the highly-anticipated sequel will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. It almost looks like a perfect addition to the Nintendo library, but will it be coming to the plucky handheld? Here’s all you need to know on whether or not Psychonauts 2 will be launching onto the Nintendo Switch.
Is Psychonauts 2 Coming To Switch?
Unfortunately, developer Double Fine Productions hasn’t released any official info regarding a Nintendo Switch version for Psychonauts 2. Any previous mention of a possible Switch port comes from an old tweet from the developer, stating: “Very possibly for psychonauts 2, I believe we’d like to hit up as many platforms as we can with that one!” After four years, there seems to be no update. As of now, Psychonauts 2 is not available to play on the Nintendo Switch.
It’s a little amiss that the game won’t be coming to the Switch. Being that Psychonauts 2 is a vibrant and colorful game, you’d think that it would be perfect. There are already a great number of creative titles on the Switch, so it’s strange to not see it be included in the game’s launch.
It is, however, making its way to other big platforms. Since it is being published by Xbox Game Studios, Xbox players will receive special treatment for the game with optimization. It’ll launch onto the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, as well as Day One privileges through Game Pass. It’ll also launch onto the PlayStation 4, with backwards compatibility made available for the PlayStation 5. PC players can expect to find this game on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
While Psychonauts 2 is not available for the Switch right now, there is a chance it can be ported in the future. Developers and publishers have done this before and still are, with big AAA titles making their way to the massive Nintendo store. Some have taken their time while others have rushed to the handheld console.
