Is Resident Evil 8 Village PS5 Exclusive?

PS5 exclusive

Resident Evil Village promises to continue the horrifying first-person perspective that RE7 used. So, fans of the series have good reason to be excited about the new game. However, the trailer that was released is primarily on PlayStation’s channel, and, a lot of the marketing surrounds the PlayStation release of Village. So, what is it, is Resident Evil Village a PS5 Exclusive? Or will Ethan be allowed to shotgun vampire temptresses on all consoles?

Is Resident Evil Village a PS5 Exclusive?

No, Resident Evil Village is not a PS5 exclusive. The game will be coming out in May 2021 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. It will not be coming to Switch on initial release. It is also unlikely to come out for the Mac at all, like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Resident Evil Village is a PS5 exclusive because Sony has been doing good at drumming up the hype. Because of that, the other consoles have been less vocal about the game, and Capcom and Sony have good business dealings. The only PS5 exclusive part of the game is the Maiden demo, which lets PS5 owners try out some of the game’s mechanics a little early.

Unfortunately, the game is not coming to the Switch initially. However, neither did Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The seventh game in the series came out a few months after its initial release. The Switch is very different from the other top consoles right now, so it likely takes some extra manpower to develop for.

That leaves three very good options for Resident Evil Village. For those who want to get the Steam version, the price tag on Steam’s website currently reads $79.99. That is a slight error, as that’s the version that comes with Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 7’s DLC. It’s a pretty great deal, but the full game is the same standard $59.99 that we all know and love. You can purchase the bundles on any of the three console options that Resident Evil Village currently resides.
