When it comes to anime, it always makes sense to expect a fighting game at some point in the future. Well, a familiar face is about to re-enter the fore. Based on the popular show JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is expected to arrive next month with loads of playable characters to choose from. Considering how far along the series is and just how big the cast has grown, it’s only natural that the game would have plenty of old and new faces try out. This will add to the competitive dynamic as players decide which characters best suit their play style.
JoJo’s All-Star Battle R Playable Characters
It was in 1987 that the manga for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure was first published and the series is ongoing. Since then, it has led to a well-received anime that premiered in 2012. Due to its popularity, it wasn’t long before a studio like CyberConnect2 Co. Ltd. started working on a game called JoJo’s All-Star Battle. Launching in September, the title will be a multiplayer fighting game featuring over 50 recognizable characters from the JoJo universe. Considering that players will be able to make teams of three, this will give them plenty of options and strategies to practice.
While the name may be enticing, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has some plots that can be easily followed. The main story follows the family Joestar. However, each season of installment of the series follows a young Joestar descendant. In one way or another, the descendant gets involved in a conflict that brings them into an epic adventure. From martial arts, the series has evolved to focus mainly on characters relying on protective entities called Stands to fight for them. However, since the injuries and energy is shared between spirit and host, it leads to some very intense brawls.
JoJo’s All-Star Battle is the latest title to join the ranks of anime fighting games and is doing its best to capture the aesthetic and feel of the series. Considering that it will include over 50 playable fighters, players can look forward to playing across the series come September.
