Cute critters will always make for solid protagonists, and when their powers combine, they can try to create something greater. The animal heroes of Kao the Kangaroo and Yooka-Laylee are working together to grow and release a new DLC for free. Though the games are similar in style only, both studios have teamed up to introduce new content. It’s likely that this may lead to more joint ventures in the future, but players will be able to try this first one out for themselves.
The Yooka-Laylee And Kao The Kangaroo DLC
Two 3d
First, there was Banjo-Kazooie and Kao the Kangaroo. These games were developed in the early era of 3D gaming on Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1, respectively. After their respective series slowed down, they were revived as Yooka-Laylee and a new Kao the Kangaroo. Now, they’ve decieded to team up for DLC and deals.
According to Game News, Tate Multimedia (Kao), and Playtonic Games (Yooka-Laylee) have announced an official partnership. Their first act is a free update for their respective titles across all the platforms on which they are available. The DLC will let players play through Kao the Kangaroo as Yooka the Chameleon, and a bundle containing both games are being offered for 20 percent less than the full combined price.
Aside from cute animal heroes, both games have a lot in common in terms of gameplay. Both Yooka-Laylee and Kao the Kangaroo are entries in what could now be considered traditional 3D platforming. The former follows a chameleon and a bat who take down an evil corporation run by a sinister bee. The latter follows the level-by-level adventure of a boxing kangaroo. Both have their ups and downs but are all-together colorful and amusing experiences to play through with the DLC showing that there can be more to them.
The 3D platform relies on games like Yooka-Laylee and Kao the Kangaroo to stay updated and active. Since the teams behind both have joined forces to provide free DLC and bundle deals, there’s potential for even more content in the future.
