Gayming Magazine, the world’s first LGBTQ video game website, hosted its second annual Gayming Awards on April 25, 2022. The magazine, based in the UK, seeks to recognize “LGBTQ+ video gaming and queer geek culture.” They celebrate diversity and inclusivity globally within games and interactive media.
The 2022 Gayming Awards were presented and streamed live on Twitch from the Troxy Theater in London. Finally, this year marks the first the awards have expanded beyond video games to recognize streamers, tabletop games, and comics.
A panel of diverse judges determines the Gayming Awards winners. The Game of the Year Nominees included Boyfriend Dungeon, Life is Strange: True Colors, Psychonauts 2, and Unpacking. Life is Strange: True Colors, now available on Game Pass, took the top spot. It also earned wins for Best LGBTQ Character for its lead, Alex Chen, and the Authentic Representation Award.
Readers could vote for their favorite game in the Gayming Magazine Readers’ Award. Resident Evil Village fended off competition from games like Sable, Metroid Dread, and Forza Horizon 5 to win big.
