How to Throw the Ball Away in Madden 22

How to Throw the Ball Away in Madden 22

In Madden 22, you can throw the ball away by simply pressing in the right joystick. By default, the input is the same on both PlayStation and Xbox controllers. However, you shouldn’t throw the ball away thoughtlessly, since doing so can lead to serious penalties. As hinted previously, timing is key.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t throw the ball away while you’re in the tackle box aka the pocket. Especially if there are no receivers nearby. If you’re still inside the pocket when throwing the ball you will receive an intentional grounding penalty, which causes you to be moved back five yards. If the opposition forces you to make a quick throw, make sure to get out of the tackle box first. Alternatively, you can avoid the penalty by throwing the ball away in the direction of a nearby receiver. The receiver should be no more than 5-10 yards from your position.

It’s also worth noting that Madden 22 won’t give you any indication when you’re about to throw a ball that will lead to an intentional grounding penalty. In other words, you need to be fairly familiar with the rules of the game to pull off a good throw. If you’re still new to the game, it’s a good idea to practice your throws in training mode before jumping into competitive mode.
