Madden 23 How to QB Contain

To contain a QB, you’ll need to spread out your defensive lineup to space out your players. As you’re doing this, make sure that there are no open areas for the opposing quarterback to advantage of. They’ll see it as an opportunity to run instead of passing the ball to a receiver. The best defensive formations to abide by are the zone covers. These can be selected from the menu whenever both teams huddle and break for the next play.

The other two primary defensive formations you could utilize for a QB contain are blitz or man covers. Blitz tactics are typically used to rush in on the opposing side instead of attempting to stick with receiving players.

Man covers basically assign one player to another for them to focus on instead of guarding a certain zone. Use these two for whenever you don’t intend on containing the quarterback. You want to cover as much ground as possible, thus closing up any windows for the quarterback to take a peek in.

Spread out your line-up to shut any open gaps as aforementioned. Don’t pinch and don’t individually move your players from one spot to the next. You only have a few seconds before they hike the ball, so you’ll need to think on your toes.

When the next play is about to begin, organize your line-up accordingly so that the quarterback will have to resort to being behind the action. Regardless, you should QB contain whenever you sense that they’re going to make a run for it. It’s difficult to figure out what the other team’s next move will be, but it’s good to always be prepared.
