Madden 23 - How to Stiff Arm

What’s there to say about Madden 23? It’s the most popular series of football games, and players from around the world come together to experience what it’s like running and playing on the field. But, when it comes down to the wire, winning is the only thing in your mind. And if you want to win, you have to pull out every trick in the book if you expect to take home the win. One of these tricks is the Stiff Arm, a staple of the sport. Here’s how to use it to your advantage in the latest release.

To perform a stiff arm in Madden 23, press and hold A on Xbox, or X on PlayStation. Doing so will hold up the ball carrier’s arm, allowing them push away incoming players.

The point of the stiff arm is to knock an oncoming tackler off balance and push them out of the way. However, this move won’t always work. How well and how often you can pull of a stiff arm are determined by your player’s Strength and Stiff Arm ratings. If they’re too low, you will not be able to use this as an effective method. All the same, it’s a good instinct to be ready to throw incoming aggressors off your trail. If a tackle is inevitable, it couldn’t hurt to try, right?

Still, there are other moves that the ball carrier can use. The first is the aforementioned hurdle and jurdle. Both provide vertical movement perfect for jumping over the opposing team. The second is the juke. While not allowing as much vertical movement compared to the hurdle, the juke is a good way to get horizontal movement and outwit your opponents.

And there you have it. The Stiff Arm can be a good choice for players who are strong, but don’t expect any miracles if your player is faster than their bulk.
