Minecraft Bubble Elevator - How to Make

One of the wonders of Minecraft is the amount of creativity the player is given. Players have developed intricate structures and plenty of impressive structures. Now, with the advent of new blocks in the game, things have only gotten more interesting. One of the most interesting builds in the game is the bubble elevator. It’s a simple way of reaching heights without much effort. If you want to add this crafty contraption to your homestead, here’s what you need to do.

How to Make a Bubble Elevator in Minecraft

Bubble elevators are a simple and easy way to move you vertically. They’re also really easy to make if you have the right materials. Perhaps you have a floating island you want to reach, and move up there without the use of an elytra. This is where the bubble elevator comes in.

To build a bubble elevator, you’re going to need a few things. The first thing you need is Glass, and lots of it, if you’re building it in the open. If your bubble elevator is through a mountain, you won’t need glass. Next, you’ll need one block of both Soulsand and Magma. Both of these are imperative for the function of the elevator.

Then, you’ll need two buckets of water. The final thing you need to complete construction of the Bubble elevator is Kelp. You’ll only need enough Kelp for one of the elevators, as you can reuse it.

Building the Bubble Elevator

To properly build the bubble elevator, the first thing you’ll need to do is construct the tube. This is done by either making a tube out of the glass in the open, or digging straight down to your destination. Make sure that there’s only enough room at the bottom for you to enter or exit, and water cannot escape. Next, you need to fill the tube with water. Stand at the top of the tube, and place a water source block on the top. Wait until it makes it to the bottom of the tube, and dig down one extra block in the tube. After this, you need to place enough kelp to reach to the top of the tube.

Remember to drink a water breathing potion so you don’t drown. Doing this will make every block in the tube a water source block, which is important. Now that this is complete, you need to remove all the kelp, and place a  soul sand on the bottom of the tube. If this is done correctly, the bubbles should replenish your air, and jettison you to the top of the tube.

If you want to make a bubble elevator that travels downward, you’ll have to repeat the process. The only difference is that you need to replace the Soulsand with a magma block.

Alternatively, you could always make a tube with water at the bottom, which will always negate fall damage if the water is a single source block.
