We all know how extensive the world-building is in Minecraft, but even the animal NPCs have their own ecosystems. One product of this is, unsurprisingly, honey, which is tied to the bees that buzz around the randomly-generated worlds. It’s a very useful consumable, as it restores hunger and can remove any poison you may be suffering with. However, it’s not always straightforward to get. Fear not, as we break down how to get honey in Minecraft.
How to Get Honey in Minecraft
Getting honey in Minecraft is a two-tiered process. You’ll need a glass bottle before you can collect honey, which you can craft with three blocks of glass. Take that to any bee hive across the world and press the left trigger, and you’ll collect honey. Beware though, as this will enrage any bees inside the hive, causing them to attack you. You’ll have to run away to avoid getting hurt, or light a campfire underneath to calm the angry insects.
If you want a risk-free way of collecting honey, it’s a little more complicated. The process of extracting it from a beehive is the same, but you need to use a dispenser instead. Place glass bottles inside the dispenser and place it next to the beehive, and it’ll do the collection for you. You can then take the honey-filled bottles straight from the dispenser, eliminating any risk from angry bees.
These are the only possible ways to get this resource in Minecraft. Both are relatively straightforward, and the only thing you need to bear in mind is the potential risk of being stung. Armed with honey, you’ll easily be able to grab the Wax On, Wax Off achievement, too. It’s an invaluable healing resource to have, and it’s super easy to get a hold of.
