The Daimyo Hermitaur is the first monster that players run into in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It’s the jerk that invades Shrine Ruins, so of course Kamura’s prime hunter can take it down! But, even after struggling against the crab a bit, you can run into a weird problem. See, the Daimyo Hermitaur has a part called the Timeworn Crimson Horn in Monster Hunter Rise. How to Get Timeworn Crimson Horn in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
To get the Timeworn Crimson Horn in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, you need to break the Daimyo Hermitaur’s shell twice. Just the first break is not enough. Once the tip of the shell’s horn has fully fallen off, then you know you’ve done enough to get the 90% chance to get the item. This rare material is used for Daimyo Hermitaur’s weapons and armor.
The shell is a very difficult part of the Hermitaur to break. However, with bludgeoning weapons – the hammer and the hunting horn – getting the two breaks should be doable. It is also doable with explosive damage, such as with the bowguns and gunlance. Bladed weapons can manage it, but will often bounce off of the hard shell and will do little damage.
If you’re having trouble with the shell, try to use skills on your Palico and Palamute to distract the Hermitaur so you can more easily sneak behind him. In addition, you should get Partbreaker, a skill that allows you to more easily break monster parts. As long as you can pressure Daimyo’s back with a hammer, you’ll be in a good place to get the Crimson Horn.
The Horn is used on the Hermitaur Waist and his later weapons. It will be a good idea to farm this item if you plan on making his relatively strong water weapons. It is by no means required, though; there are plenty of water-based monsters in the game.
