What Are the Best Monsters in Monster Hunter Stories 2

Monster Hunter Stories 2 Best Monsters

First of all, it’s important to note that the best monsters in Monster Hunter Stories 2 don’t matter all that much. The game is easy enough that you can get by with your favorite monstie with just a little bit of grinding. However, as this is an RPG, there are some monsties with statistical upsides that you might just need to go for if you’re looking for an optimal team. Right now, the best monsters in Monster Hunter Stories 2 are Boltreaver Astalos, Elderfrost Gammoth, Hellblade Glavenus, Oroshi Kirin, Dreadking Rathalos, Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, Molten Tigrex, and Soulseer Mizutsune.

When grinding for eggs, Navaru is important to listen to. If he says that an egg “reeks” and that it’s “very heavy,” then you have the Rainbow Egg, and the highest quality monster egg. You’ll also be trying to farm for them in Golden Dens, where the highest-ranking and best Monsters sleep.

  • Nargacuga – Speed: If you’re interested in farming dens for the best monsties possible, you’re going to want a Nargacuga. The big cat is fast. While it may not deal the most elemental damage, it makes up for it with pure utility. It’s the fastest monstie that is also capable of sitting on the frontlines of a fight. A great choice for anyone trying to speedrun dens! Its variant, Silverwing Nargacuga, will be a great hunting partner once you find it!
  • Elder Dragons: Elder Dragon Monsties have incredible base stats. They are the strongest monsters in most Monster Hunter games, after all! Getting these eggs from Nergigante will reward you with Kirin, Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Velkhana. Any of these four will be insane additions to your team! However, you’ll have to progress fairly far into the story before this option becomes available for you.
  • The Fated Four: While not quite as strong as the Elder Dragons, there are a ton of really strong monsties just below the best. Finding monsties like AstalosGammothGlavenus, and Mizutsune will round out your team with potent, elemental attackers. Using the Rite of Channeling, you can swap their elemental damage and really pick up your numbers!
  • Flagships: Just under the Fated Four are some of the flagships that the games have to offer. Big bruisers like BrachydiosBazelgeuse, and Diablos can put out big Power numbers every turn. Lagiacrus can offer high elemental damage with acceptable speed. Rajang is a pretty fast rush down monstie, if you need a bit more offense.

For any of these monsties, it’s important to use the Rite of Channeling to change their statistics, abilities, and elements. None of these guys are going to reach their maximum potential without using the Gene system of the game. Thankfully, a lot of these strongest Monsties will give you quite a few Gene slots to work with right off the bat, and are very customizable.

Are the Best Monsters Unreleased?

Monster Hunter Stories 2 Best Monsters

It is highly likely that the newest monsters that are currently unreleased will be the best Monsties you can find. While Kulve Taroth will be making her Stories debut, many of the other monsties, like Oroshi Kirin, are offensive powerhouses that will help decimate the game.

As more free content updates roll out, check your game and see if one of these guys would be good for your team. In Stories, Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian were by a good margin the best monsties in the game. So, it might be the case that they’re the best monsties this time around!
