New World has a great number of rare items that are difficult to come by. Snails are not one of them, and yet many players are having a tough time finding them. Unfortunately, these creatures only spawn in very specific places. In other words, you’re only going to be able to find an aquatic snail if you know where to look. This is where our little guide comes in. Keep reading to learn how to easily acquire a snail for yourself.
How to Catch a Snail in New World
In order to catch an aquatic snail in New World, you’ll have to make use of the game’s fishing mechanic. First things first, you’re going to need a fishing rod. Then, you’re going to have to use the right sort of bait. As long as you have both rod and bait, you can get a snail by fishing in freshwater at a location like the First Light Broad Fishing Spot.
Firefly Bait is ideal for catching aquatic snails, but there are a few other types you could try. Woodlouse Bait, for instance, is also very effective. As an added bonus, it’s very easy to acquire. You can get a wide variety of bait types, including Woodlouse, by harvesting bushes. Unlike hemp plants, bushes are plentiful in most areas of New World. All you have to do is wander around for a bit and you’re guaranteed to come across a few of them.
It’s worth noting that you can catch snails without bait, but it will likely take a lot longer. Using bait really speeds up the process.
Aquatic Snail Fishing Locations
Once you have a rod and some bait, it’s time to start fishing for an aquatic snail. This is where the tricky part comes in. Snails can be found in freshwater, however, they won’t spawn in just any pond or river in the game. For one reason or another, these creatures prefer certain places a lot more than others. The First Light Broad Fishing Spot and the Windsward Secret Fishing Hotspot are the best places to try. In addition, you can also try your luck at the Faith’s Bounty lake.
Aquatic snails and clams are needed to complete the Baited quest in New World. The quest is well worth your time since it awards a decent amount of XP, coins, territory standing, Azoth, and a pair of gloves.
