The early game quests of New World do not hold your hand. You’ll be asked to perform a myriad of basic MMO tasks before you can really start joining factions and experiencing the rest of the game. One early task in New World is to clear out Karl the Overseer and his Corrupted camp. This man is one of your hurdles on your way to joining a faction and finally experiencing the PvP content that New World is famous for. So, we’ll help you find him and take him down!
Where to Find Karl the Overseer in New World
Karl the Overseer is located on the second floor of the building with a supply chest. He will always spawn in this building’s attic. However, since Karl isn’t instanced, he can be killed by other players and disappear for a while. You’ll have to be patient and wait for him to respawn. Hopefully, you can get credit for assisting the kill by beating him with your weapon before he gets destroyed.
Annoyingly, Karl is an example of New World‘s low-instance design philosophy. This allows for a very rich, evolving world… But also means that players can spawn-camp quest bosses and farm them for loot. It’s a double-edged sword, and Karl is a prime example of where it fails.
Karl himself doesn’t drop anything overly impressive. His drop list is quite massive, containing everything from crafting supplies to basic weapon upgrades. Considering how early on it is, it might not be the best idea to sit on him to farm him. This is especially true since newer players need to get through him in order to progress in the story. It’s better to get to a faction and work through higher-level quests for gear that will last a bit longer.
