Reports are flooding in of players experiencing high input latency. What the weirdest part about this issue is the fact that players are encountering the error only after a few hours of playthrough. So, it seems like this issue arises only after some time playing the game, or is triggered by something else. There is no *solution* for this issue, but rather, multiple solutions.
Lag & High Input Latency Solution – New World

Before we go over the fixes, it is important to mention that for some, these fixes might sound trivial, and that’s because they are.
Also, in some cases it might actually be just a server-wide issue with the game. In those cases, there is little that can be done (check server status). For the other cases where the issue is unique only to you, you can try any of the following fixes:
- Run the game as an administrator;
- Switch to a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi;
- Update NW, operating system, and GPU drivers;
- Add a controlled folder access exception for NW;
- Flush DNS;
- Disable Antivirus or add a NW exception.
Run The Game As An Administrator
This is pretty self-explanatory, but for those that don’t know, all you need to do is find a New World shortcut, right-click it, and then hit “Run as administrator”.
If that option is unavailable, when you right-click it, go to Properties > Compatibility. There, make sure “Run this program as an administrator” is checked.
Update NW, OS & GPU Drivers
Having anything outdated out of these three things can cause a variety of errors. It doesn’t have to be lag, but there are a lot of issues that are caused because of out-of-date game, OS, or GPU drivers.
To update your OS and GPU drivers, it is simple. It can be done through the Windows Update menu. Just search for “Windows Update” in your start menu, and check for update there. The graphics card drivers should be updated with this as well (if out-of-date).
Add A Controlled Folder Access Exception for New World
To add a controlled folder access exception for New World, go to the Start Menu, and search for “Controlled Folder Access”. When you open up that menu, hit “Allow an app through controlled folder access”.
Press “Add an allowed app” > “Browse all apps”. Then, find New World in File Explorer and select it.
Flush DNS
To flush DNS on Windows 10, right-click your Start Menu button. From the list, click on PowerShell (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin). Click on the one that your system has.
When the console-like window opens, type in the following command and hit enter: ipconfig /flushdns
Like I said before, the high input latency can also be cause by a server issue. Since New World is quite known for having server issues, check whether the servers are up and running before going through with the other fixes.
