There are quite a few Nintendo Switch fitness games, but not all of them are designed to get you into shape. When figuring out the best exercise games on the Switch, we specifically searched for ones designed to help players live more healthy lives. Here are our top three choices for games to consider when it comes to pure fitness!
Ring Fit Adventure
Ring Fit Adventure is an intense fitness game disguised as an approachable RPG. As exercise games go, this one’s kind of an oddball, but the RPG styling makes it shockingly addictive. As you work out, your character grows stronger with you; burning calories will also burn your enemies! This is the perfect game for someone looking to work out and get better at basic exercises. If that wasn’t enough, you also get a really cool stress band that you can work out with even outside of the game.
While the campaign in Ring Fit Adventure will guide you on a path to becoming more healthy, it’s not all about the grind. There are also competitive challenges that you can play with your friends or family, plus alternative exercise modes from the main story. This is a game about exercise, first and foremost. The RPG campaign mode is just a fun way to work out for someone who might need some extra motivation.
Fitness Boxing 2
Fitness Boxing 2 is a rhythm game, and a really fun one at that. It’s based around a few very basic motions that require you to twist and turn into your punches. This is a great game for working out your core and endurance, since you need to consistently follow directions. You have 11 different coaches to choose from, with each of them offering both support and entertaining commentary. There are also a lot of routines available, and you can even customize which moves the game will ask you to do in case you’re injured or simply dislike a specific motion.
Fitness Boxing 2 is consistently great at reinforcing your workout routine. There are a lot of features that are focused on keeping you in shape for an extended period of time, such as alarms and alerts. It’s also fairly accessible, since you can base your workout around a number of different exercises. If that wasn’t enough, the workout routines available are great at working different parts of your body. From punches to practicing your dodging and weaving, you can work out most muscles with a boxing game. It’s very creative, even if the graphics won’t exactly blow you away.
Zumba Burn It Up!
This is a fairly traditional dance game with an emphasis on exercise. Zumba Burn It Up! uses dances from professional Zumba instructors that help you lose weight fast, though with less of a schedule compared to the other two games on the list. This is probably the most intense workout for cardio from the list, but probably has the most energy right out of the gate. It’s also the easiest to do as a group, such as with a significant other or a bunch of friends.
Out of the three options on this list, this is probably the hardest to get into for accessibility. Even basic dances require some fairly decent cardio to start with, but it will improve your endurance very fast. The songs are catchy, and the instructors are personable and expressive. You’ll not only be excited the entire time, but you can kind of choose how “into it” you get, since this still requires you to move your feet by your own volition. That’s an important part of the experience though! The more you’re interested in Zumba, dancing for exercise, or both, the more this program will help you.
