What better way to end a great year than with our ultimate Nintendo Switch Holiday gift guide?
2022 has been a banner year for Nintendo. It started strong with Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In a perfect bookend, a new mainline Pokémon game will end the year with Scarlet and Violet releasing November on November 18th.
Sufficed to say, there is a good chance that any Nintendo fan will have a lot to ask for this Holiday season. For some, it can be a bit overwhelming; thankfully, we’ve covered you with our Nintendo Switch Holiday gift guide. We’ll cover ten of the best gift ideas for any Nintendo fan on your holiday gift-giving list.
Nintendo Switch Oled Console Should Top Your Nintendo Christmas List if Your Budget Allows It

The newest Switch model was released last year, but it’s still a great Nintendo gift for this year. The OLED screen makes your Switch games shine; the screen truly shines with bright colors and sharp visuals. The white Joy-Cons couple well, making the entire console an absolute beauty.
While the OLED model lacks 4K visuals, there is still a lot to enjoy here. This is the Nintendo Switch model to buy for those with aging Switch consoles or if you’re looking to get one for the first time.
Transport Your New Nintendo Switch in Style With A Carrying Case

When I bought a Nintendo Switch on launch day in March 2017, my first purchase alongside it was a carrying case. When I picked up a Switch for my wife, my first purchase to go with it was, you guessed it, a carrying case.
The official Nintendo store has some solid cases that run from super basic to a borderline fashion statement. I mean, who doesn’t want a Snorlax carrying case?
Universally, the best Nintendo Switch carrying case is the Orzly carry case. It offers the perfect mix of design, space, and durability, all for under $20.
A Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Can Take Your Gaming to the Next Level

While the Nintendo Joy-Cons do well to imitate a traditional controller setup, nothing beats the feel of the real thing.
Nintendo has always been at the forefront of controller design; the Nintendo GameCube’s Wavebird controller, for example, is one of the best controllers I’ve ever played with.
My preferred method is playing certain games on Nintendo Switch with a pro controller. While there’s a strong chance that longtime Switch owners already have one, the Pro Controller is a great option if you’re looking to pick up gifts for a new Switch owner this holiday season.
Now, if you’re looking to pick up some games to play with your new console and controller, our next entries on our Nintendo Switch holiday gift guide are right up your alley.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Will Appear Ok Every Nintendo Switch Holiday Gift Guide

This one is a no-brainer, folks.
If you or someone you know owns a Nintendo Switch, they will most likely want the newest Pokémon game.
Scarlet and Violet feel like a much-needed step forward for the Pokémon franchise. Further expansion of open-world areas helps keep gameplay fresh and engaging. Raid battles, first introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, have also been expanded.
Everything points to Scarlet and Violet as a much-needed breath of fresh air for the series. Every Nintendo fan would be thrilled to see this game under the Christmas tree.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus Is a Great Spin-off for the Pokémon Franchise

From a Pokémon game released at the end of 2022 to the Pokémon game that came out at the start of 2022. Pokémon Legends: Arceus represents a bold new direction from the franchise.
The traditional turn-based gameplay isn’t found here. Instead, you’re sent into the open world in a time where people are still unsure about the Pokémon that co-exist alongside them. Players are tasked with collecting, researching, and observing Pokémon in the wild. You’ll sometimes encounter incredibly strong Pokémon that require a more proactive approach in combat. These boss battles are some of the most fun I’ve had with Pokémon in years.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is not a perfect game, but it’s still a must-own for any Pokémon fan. If you know someone who missed out, it’s a great choice for the season and a solid entry on our Nintendo Switch Holiday gift guide.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Is a Follow-up to a Fan-favorite Switch Game

When Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released in 2017, it was one of the year’s biggest surprises. Five years later, Sparks of Hope will be a highly requested present for Nintendo Switch owners.
Developed by Ubisoft, the Mario + Rabbids series is an excellent turn-based tactical strategy game that oozes charm and personality. There’s no logical reason for these games to be as good as they are, but they continue to blow away our expectations.
Sparks of Hope is on my Christmas list; I’d love nothing more than to unwrap it Christmas morning and spend my holiday vacation playing the game on a snowy day.
Bayonetta 3 Is One of the Newest Games on Our Nintendo Switch Holiday Gift Guide

It’s been a long time coming, but Bayonetta 3 is finally here. Developer Platinum Games proves they are still at the top of its class regarding high-octane action sequences.
Despite the eight-year wait between Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3, Nintendo Switch owners will feel at home with the sequel. The gameplay expands and pushes the franchise forward in the best possible way.
While the story doesn’t always hit the mark, you’ll keep coming back, thanks to the addictive combat. It may get lost in the shuffle compared to other Nintendo exclusives like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon, but sleep on Bayonetta at your own risk.
The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Is a Great Companion Piece While We Wait for the Next Zelda Game

While we’re still waiting for the Breath of the Wild sequel, titled Tears of the Kingdom, there are still some Legend of Zelda goodies to get the Nintendo fan on your holiday gift list.
The Hyrule Historia is a wonderful companion piece that will thrill any Zelda fan. A beautiful display of lore, history, artwork, and more will do the job to tide fans over until the next Zelda game releases in 2023.
We hope it releases in 2023, anyway.
A Nintendo eShop Card Is a great way to gift fantastic indie titles

My wife gets a Nintendo eShop gift card in her stocking every year. Every year, my wife discovers something new to fall in love with on Nintendo Switch.
This may be the most popular gift Switch owners receive this year. Gift cards are always a great gift idea for Nintendo fans. Whether you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to play Nintendo 64 classics or pick up one of the several indies headed to Switch soon, a Nintendo eShop gift card is a perfect stocking stuffer.
Don’t Forget a Microsd Card, Either

One of the most overlooked Nintendo Switch accessories is the microSD storage card.
Nothing would feel worse than trying to download all of those indie games, or even first-party titles like Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, to find out you don’t have the storage space to install them.
While you may not need the officially branded Nintendo microSD cards that you can buy on Amazon, you might as well have some Nintendo-themed flair on your storage device.
Wrapping up Our Nintendo Switch Holiday Gift Guide
While we’ve only included ten gift ideas, there is plenty more to consider. If the Nintendo fan on your shopping list doesn’t have games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario Kart 8, or Super Mario Odyssey, they’re all excellent options.
