Overwatch 2 | Will Skins Transfer

Will Skins Transfer to Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is set to release in October 2022, and with the first game’s success, players have sunk a lot of time into battling with their favorite heroes. However, battling and unlocking new cosmetics for characters and losing all that progress in the name of a sequel isn’t that appealing to players. So the question is, will skins transfer to Overwatch 2?

Overwatch 2 Skins Transfer

Yes, skins will transfer from Overwatch to Overwatch 2. This was proven in an Overwatch Community Update in March 2022.

This community update discusses the introduction of Anniversary Remix events, allowing players to unlock skins from the original game. The Overwatch Community Manager stated:

“Instead, the Anniversary Remix events will be introducing a new set of variants in place of the normal event schedule, all of which will transfer to Overwatch 2 along with all previously earned skins, sprays, and player icons.”

This means that anything you’ve unlocked in the original Overwatch will then transfer when you link your account to Overwatch 2, allowing you to use all of the legendary skins you’ve unlocked along the way. With the plethora of interesting cosmetics heroes can wear, it’s no surprise that players would want their skins to transfer to Overwatch 2.

Although, for those who haven’t played the first game, it’s unclear if developers will reintroduce these skins into the new game, or if they’re going to focus only on new skins for Overwatch 2. However, the community update does mention Remix Events coming to Overwatch. So, perhaps Overwatch 2 will also get the same events allowing players to unlock previous skins from the first entry in the sequel.

Regardless, Overwatch 2 looks like it’s shaping up to be another stellar entry in Blizzard’s catalog and will undoubtedly have plenty of skins to unlock along the way, whether new or old.
