Where to Find the Manhole Hook in Toad Town

Paper Mario: The Origami King Manhole Hook Location

As you’re exploring Toad Town, you’ll find a Shy Guy stuck inside of a door just left of the broken bridge that leads to Peach’s Castle. After pulling him out of the door, he will explain that the sewer to your left will lead to the castle. However, after you investigate the sewer, he will share that one of the other Shy Guy’s has the Manhole Hook that will be needed to pull open the sewer lid.

So, to find the Origami King Manhole Hook location, you’ll need to track down the not as handsome Shy Guy — luckily he isn’t far away. Next to the sewer, you’ll see a fenced-in area with one of the giant Goomba’s who seems to have a Shy Guy in its mouth. Head to the front of the house and repair the bottomless whole to use the door and get inside.

Now that you’re inside, use Mario’s hammer to hit the door on the counter and use that as a step to get up to the window. Now hit the window with the hammer and jump outside. Defeat the Goomba and free the Shy Guy to find out that the Manhole Hook is actually in the red brick building by the port. So, collect your confetti and head over to the house by the port.

If you haven’t been inside yet, hit the box on the ground to your right with Mario’s hammer to reveal a small greed dude. Now that he is free, hit the shelves next to the box and he will tell you to keep hitting it because it’s moving the boxes. Repeatedly hit the shelves with the hammer and eventually, a box will fall off revealing a 1,000-Fold Arm icon. As usual, use the arms to pull off a spot on the wall, revealing another door.

Once inside you’ll see a bunch of boxes, some Goomba’s, and most importantly, the Origami King Manhole Hook location. Go ahead and battle with the Goomba’s, because you’ll have to get them out of the way to get to the hook. Once that’s done, destroy the boxes in front of the green cart and then hit it with Mario’s hammer so that it rolls to the other side of the room. Now jump along with the boxes, destroy the crate, and pick up the Manhole Hook.

From here, simply take it back to the sewer and use it to pop off the lid. Once inside, follow along the path and eventually you’ll find a pipe that will lead you to the castle remains.
