Obsidian Entertainment’s beautiful isometric RPG, Pillars of Eternity 2 was released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With it, comes a band of faithful companions that will offer their services to your party. Companions are helpful, but completely optional pieces of the game. So, finding them can sometimes be a challenge. This guide will show you how to find the Pillars of Eternity 2 Xoti companion, one of the first in the game.
Where to find Xoti in Pillars of Eternity 2
Xoti can be found in two locations depending on where you are at in the story:
- Before searching the Engwithan Digsite: Dawnstar Encampment, Port Maje
- After searching the Engwithan Digsite: Temple of Gaun, Neketaka
To find the Xoti companion at Port Maje, you’ll want to make sure you don’t search the Engwithan Digsite for the main questline right away. All you must do is go back to where you first entered Port Maje. Xoti will be in the Dawn Star Encampment just to the right of where the crowd was gathered when you first arrived. Below you’ll find some more detailed instructions for finding Xoti at the Digsite.
- On a new game: walk to the right after the dialogue auto-plays when you first enter Port Maje.
- If you haven’t searched the Engwithan Digsite for the main questline, you can return to this area for Xoti.
- Xoti is having a conversation to the right of where the crowd was gathered.
- Speaking with Xoti will allow you to invite her to your party.
Finding the Pillars of Eternity 2 Xoti companion at the Temple of Gaun is just as simple of a task, and will only require two steps. If you have already completed the Engwithan Digsite quest, simply travel to The Sacred Stair District of Neketaka and enter Guan’s Temple. Once there, speak with Xoti, invite her to join your party and choose her permanent class.
Pillars of Eternity 2 Xoti Character Traits
Companions in Pillars of Eternity 2 have unique modifiers and interests. Therefore, the choices you make throughout the game will affect your relationships with party members. The first companion you meet in the game, Xoti has a few unique characteristics of her own.
Players will quickly find that Xoti is a follower of the god Eothas. Further, during dialogue, she tends to make worldy, lighthearted choices but has strong emotions and passion throughout a conversation.
On the other hand, Xoti tends to be disapproving of any kind of antireligious choice during dialogue. Further, she dislikes irresponsible, deceptive, and underhanded choices.
Pillars of Eternity 2 Xoti Build
When you first add a companion to your team, you must choose their permanent class. For instance, Xoti can choose between monk, priest, or contemplative, which is a multi-class of monk and priest. Each character has a unique subclass for each primary class, granting special benefits.
Xoti’s unique subclasses are the monk’s Sister of the Reaping Moon and the priest’s Harvester of Gaun. If you give Xoti the contemplative class, she will gain both subclasses. Here is a more detailed guide on each of Xoti’s subclasses:
- Monk (Sister of the Reaping Moon): Grants +3 wounds on melee kills, skills cost +1 wound
- Priest (Harvester of Gaun): Gains hatchet proficiency
- Contemplative (Monk/Priest Multiclass): both subclass benefits
While multiclassing grants Xoti both subclasses, Sister of the Reaping Moon is useless if she specializes in ranged or spellcasting abilities. More so, we recommend the Monk single-class for Xoti. Her dexterity allows for her to make quick, hard hits.
Pillars of Eternity 2 Xoti Quest
Xoti’s character quest in Pillars of Eternity 2 is “The Lantern of Gaun,” in which Xoti must harvest souls and return them to her lantern. She starts with the following equipment:
- Hood
- Vestments of Gaun
- Xoti’s Sickle: +3 Deflection vs. melee, +5% sickle damage, Initiative (3)
- Xoti’s Lantern: +1 Enemy engagement, Light effect, +2 Restoration Power levels, +2 Inspiration Power levels, +1 Monk resource per kill
- Crossbow
- Shield
- Consumables: Antidote, Potion of Spirit, Potions of Minor Healing
Xoti’s Lantern ties directly into her character questline. As a Priestess of Gaun, Xoti swore herself to the duty of shepherding souls into the light of her lantern. You may remember encountering a few souls on the beach before entering Port Maje. If Xoti is in your party, she will collect all future souls in her lantern.
To complete Xoti’s quest, you must help her perform rituals as she collects these souls and ultimately faces her own nightmares at the Temple of Gaun.
How to Romance Xoti in Pillars of Eternity 2
To romance Xoti in Pillars of Eternity 2, your reputation with her must be +2 or higher. If you meet this requirement, after a certain point in her character questline, intimate dialogue options will become available. As you likely suspect, choosing those options will allow you to romance Xoti.
Xoti’s early appearance and overall decent stats make her a welcome addition to most parties when starting a new game in Pillars of Eternity II. Now that you know where to find her, how to romance her, what character traits she has, and more, its time to sail back into the Deadfire Archipelagos and add her to your party!
