The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences is ready to host the 25th annual D.I.C.E. Awards and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is leading the pack with 11 nominations.
The next closest game in terms of nominations is Deathloop with eight nods, followed by It Takes Two and Inscryption which were nominated for six awards each.
Among the awards Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is competing for is “game of the year” where it will need to fend off It Takes Two, Inscryption, Deathloop, and Returnal.
“From all of us at the Academy, we want to thank our peer panelists who continue to dedicate their energy, expertise, and time in evaluating and selecting 2021’s best games,” said Meggan Scavio, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
“And to all our finalists, congratulations! You continue to amaze us with how you push the boundaries of creativity, technical innovation, and storytelling.”
The D.I.C.E. Awards will take place on February 24 in Las Vegas. In 2021 the awards show was moved online due to Covid-19 related concerns. This year, the show will announce its winner live from the Mandalay Bay Resort.
While taking the most nominations might seem like a shoo-in for the game of the year award, keep in mind that Hades took home a much-deserved win during the award’s show last year, despite The last of Us Part II receiving 11 nominations.
