Xbox Game Pass is often referred to as the best deal in gaming. A report from The Loadout shows us just what a deal it actually is.
According to their math, Xbox Game Pass added a total of over $6,300 worth of video games in 2021. Yes, that’s a lot of video games. This number is based on the base price for each game in the Microsoft Store.
While some may think that the Bethesda acquisition accounts for most of this, that didn’t turn out to be the case. Their math calculated that “with 30 games added from the publisher this year, the total of all of them came to $604.71, just under 10% of the value of 2021’s entire additions to the library.”
There are a handful of games that come to mind when doing some personal napkin math to help reach that $6,300 figure. The following Xbox Game Pass titles were available on day one:
- Halo Infinite
- Forza Horizon 5
- Psychonauts 2
- Back 4 Blood
- Age of Empires IV
- Crusader Kings III
- MLB The Show 21
- Outriders
- Octopath Traveler
These are just some of the heavy hitters too in terms of MSRP; there are also countless other day one games that were available for more attractive price tags on the open market.
A full list of games available via Xbox Game Pass can be found on the Xbox website. This includes both console and PC games, including those available through EA Play.
Here’s to hoping we see even more value added in 2022 with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass as well.
