Sonic Frontiers Fast Travel - How to Unlock

Sonic may be one of the fastest heroes ever to embrace the digital screen, but the blue hedgehog could still use a boost in Sonic Frontiers. As you progress through the Starfall Islands and defeat various enemies, you’ll eventually want to venture back to previous areas whenever Sonic receives an upgrade. More platforming opportunities open up, yet the player will probably skip a section or two due to limited abilities. That all changes thanks to the fast travel features in Sonic Frontiers.

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Sonic Frontiers

There are two ways to unlock fast travel in Sonic Frontiers, and they both come through natural gameplay. The first route is to complete all challenges within a zone, revealing more of the map and the helpful rail system. The second way to unlock fast travel is to fish out the scrolls of both Elder Koco and Elder Koco with Big the Cat. To see which fast travel spots you’ve unlocked, head to your map then toggle between the icons in the upper right-hand corner.

Evidently, the first method can come through general gameplay as you work your way through the different challenges and puzzles. Completing these within a zone will unveil access to the portals across the map. This particular method will also clear away some of the fog that’s concealing parts of the map, so you might want to conquer these whenever you stumble upon them.

Fishing is the easier of the two methods when it comes to unlocking fast travel. The mini-game transports you to Big the Cat to engage in the calming activity. However, instead of merely tossing your line in for fish, you might obtain one of the aforementioned scrolls. Collect these, and you’ll be able to travel to the Koco sites within their respective Islands. Also, make sure you have a sufficient amount of Purple Coins on you before you conduct fishing business with Big.

The game does allow you to switch between worlds, but these two methods will unlock quick access to the Islands’ areas. It’s especially useful in a game where the vast landscapes stretch from one end to the other. Even if you’re using infinite boost, unlocking fast travel will still speed things up in the long run.
