It is pretty simple to get the Super Sea Snail. You can obtain them by joining online Splatfests, and as you play through the events, you will gain experience points in order to raise your Splatfest Rank.
The amount of Super Sea Snail that will obtain depends on the rank that you get at the end of the game mode. Those who will win the Splatfest will receive a bonus of Super Sea Snails for their achievement.
After a Splatfest concludes, you can redeem your Snails from the booths In Splatsville. You need to go and talk to Murch in front of the Lobby entrance, and he will talk to you only if you are at least level 4.
In exchange for Super Sea Snails, Murch can raise the Star Power on any peace of gear, though it may cost more Snails depending on the type of the gear.
