1047 Games is pushing Splitgate to the limit. With the game currently in its beta phase, players are rushing to try out the insane Halo/Portal-hybrid shooter. Of course, some are wondering if Splitgate supports crossplay support since it’s available on some major consoles and PC. It’s only a matter of time before Splitgate hits the big charts. So, here’s all you need to know about Splitgate crossplay and cross-platform support.
Does Splitgate Support Cross-Platform Play?
Splitgate supports both crossplay and cross-platform gameplay for all major consoles and PC except for the Switch. This means that you can queue up with any of your online buds, no matter what platform they’re playing on. Splitgate can be enjoyed on the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. If you own any of these and so does your friend, you’re good to go.
To get started, click on the three-person icon on the top right of the main menu to access your friends. There will be five tabs: Friends (your list of mates), Recent Players, Add Friends (which also contains your ID), Invites, and Blocked individuals.
Be mindful of what console you choose to play on, though. At the time of this writing, Splitgate doesn’t support cross-progression. So, if you’re looking into switching consoles or hopping onto the PC, your saves will not line up. If you’re attempting to disable crossplay, however, you might want to give up on that. Since crossplay supports the servers to the brim, it’s very likely that the developers programmed it into default mode to compensate for the game’s increasing popularity.
However, this only applies to PC players. For the console gang, you can simply go to your Privacy settings and switch Crossplay off. This is probably done to provide a fairground among controller folks and mouse-and-keyboard fanatics. As 1047 Games continues to work on the game, there is a chance this might be adjusted sometime in the future.
As for now, these are the foundations that have been established. It’s possible we might see Splitgate on the Switch one day, but the current crossplay availability is already praise-worthy enough; especially since the game is still free to play.
