What is the Best Way to Get an Ancient Seed?
The best way to get an Ancient Seed in Stardew Valley is by searching Artifact Spots in Cindersap Forest and The Mountain. Simply head to either of these locations and start digging with a shovel. Artifact Spots are marked by three wiggling worms on the ground. Unfortunately, despite being the best option, you still have a very low chance of finding a seed at one of these spots.
The next best option is to kill Bugs, Cave Flys, Grub, Mutant Flys, and Mutant Grub. Each of these has a small chance to drop on Ancient Seed. Bugs, Cave Flys, and Grub can all be found in The Mines, while Mutant Flys and Mutant Grub can only be found in the Mutant Bug Lair and Skull Cavern.
Lastly, and probably the most difficult ways to go about getting an Ancient Seed is in treasure chests that you get while fishing, purchasing an Artifact Trove from the Desert Trader, or getting a Deconstructor and placing a pack on Ancient Seeds (different than the Ancient Seed) inside of it.
What Should You Do With the Ancient Seed?
After you eventually find an Ancient Seed, there is only one thing that you can do with it — donate it to Gunther at the Museum. As a token of his appreciation, Gunther will give players a pack of Ancient Seeds, which can be planted to grow Ancient Fruit.
If you’re not familiar with Ancient Fruit, it can be grown and sold for a lot of G. Even better, it will re-grow every seven days, meaning it’s a great way to earn some extra cash for the farm.
Can You Gift It?
The Ancient Seed can be gifted, but it’d be a waste of a gift. The only people that like it are Dwarf and Penny, the rest of the townsfolk dislike it. So your best bet is going to be to hold onto it and donate it to Gunther at the Museum.
