Stardew Valley Lingcod | How to Catch

Stardew Valley Lingcod - How to Catch

There is a lot to do in Stardew Valley, so wasting away your time catching fish may not seem like the best use of your time. That is unless you receive Willy’s quest to “Catch a Lingcod” in exchange for 550g and a Friendship Heart. That might tempt you to grab your fishing pole and start bobbing in the water. However, Lingcod are one of the harder fish to catch in Stardew Valley. So, if you’re having trouble catching one, read on to learn the tricks of the trade.

How to Catch Lingcod in Stardew Valley

The most important thing to remember when attempting to catch a Lingcod in Stardew Valley is that the fish only spawns during the Winter Season. This gives you a relatively short window to catch one. That being said, you can catch a Lingcod regardless of the weather at the time, just so long as it’s winter. During winter you can fish for Lingcod from the river that runs through Pelican Town, in Cindersnap Forest, or the Mountain Lake north of the Town. Any point along these rivers and lakes will do.

When fishing for Lingcod, you’ll need to use Magic Bait, which you can get from Qi’s Walnut Room. Once it’s winter, you’ve got your bait and found your fishing spot you’re all set to catch Lingcod. However, because this is one of the more difficult species to catch, it may take some time before you finally land one.

If you’re having no luck catching one, the only other way to get it is by purchasing it. You can purchase Lingcod from Krobus, only on Wednesdays, for 200g, or at the Traveling Cart. However, the latter typically ranges more on the pricier side. If you don’t want to spend your money, remember that fishing is a waiting game, so don’t throw in the towel too soon!
