There are a lot of activities to do in Stardew Valley, one of which will require you to find the Mayor’s lost pair of shorts. It seems that he has lost them somewhere around town and has asked you to help him track them down. However, it’s not a simple request, for Mayor Lewis is asking for the transaction to be discreet. Why is that, and what can we do with Mayor Lewis’s lost shorts?
With that being said, we’ll guide the path for you to locate the Mayor’s Shorts in Stardew Valley. There’s a lot more in store, though, for the Mayor may be hiding something that he wouldn’t want the Valley to discover. Let’s go obtain these shorts and see what we can do with them for the Mayor’s “Shorts” story quest.
Where to Find Mayor Lewis’ Shorts
You can find the Mayor’s lost shorts in Marnie’s bedroom after receiving a letter in the mail during the third day of Summer. However, you won’t be able to go in there immediately, since you need to increase your friendship with Marine to two hearts beforehand. You can do this by completing quests for her, talking with her every day, and giving her gifts on a weekly basis.
If you go with the gift option, remember that she won’t be satisfied by just any gift, as there are specific types of gifts certain NPCs like and do not like. With that in mind, you can find a list of all the best gift options for Marnie listed below:
- Diamond
- Farmer’s Lunch
- Rabbit’s Foot
- Pink Cake
- Pumpkin Pie
You should also keep in mind that you will only have two chances to give an NPC a gift each week, so you better make it a good one. Once you find a gift for Marine, you can typically find her at her Ranch, which is just south of your Farm in the Stardew Valley.
Once you find her, you can give her one of the gifts, then come back the next day and give her another. Unfortunately, after that, you’ll have to wait an in-game week to give her another. Repeat this process until you eventually you reach two friendship hearts, thus gaining access to her bedroom.
From there, go to the aforementioned ranch to retrieve the lost pair of shorts of Mayor Lewis. Remember, it’s a straight shot south from your Farm, so you should be able to find it quite easily.
Enter Marnie’s Ranch, locate her room behind the front desk, and the shorts will be at the end of her bed. They’re quite distinctive with a purple color. Now, all you need to do is take the shorts and give them back to Mayor Lewis, who can usually be found in the Mayor’s Manor or within the center of town. After completing the Stardew Valley Mayor’s Shorts quest, go into your journal to accept the reward, which is 750g.
What to Do with Mayor Lewis’ Purple Shorts
If you’re feeling a little scandalous, you don’t have to resort to the retrieval option for Mayor Lewis. As you are your own character, you have other options to explore when it comes to maintaining the Mayor’s Shorts.
If you haven’t guessed it by now, it’s apparent that Lewis and Marnie are more than just neighbors in the Valley. No wonder he wanted this transaction to be discreet. Therefore, let’s look through the alternatives.
In addition to giving them back to Lewis, you can put the purple shorts on display at the Stardew Valley Fair. Putting them up on the grange display will result in unique dialog from Lewis and Marnie. This results in a disqualification for the event, though you will receive 750 Star Tokens for keeping the revelation a secret.
Option two will require the shorts in question and a gold bar. Tailoring these two together will generate the Trimmed Lucky Purple Shorts. As one would assume, you’ll get some special reactions from Lewis and Marnie.
If you want another fashionable option, you can bring Lewis the shorts when he pays a visit to Ginger Island. He’ll switch into his beach attire for 28 days if you go with this route.
The final option involves placing the clothing item into the Luau. This triggers some dialogue from Mayor Lewis and the Governor of Stardew Valley.
The choice is up to you, of course. It all depends on your individual journey and personal goals since each option offers a different reward, in terms of items or secret story progression.
