Over the past years, Geoff Keighley’s show has revealed some major announcements. From Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s shocking announcement to Josef Fares flipping off The Oscars, there’s never a dull moment with the show.
At the show’s start, Geoff Keighley mentions that after checking for leaks all week, he’s confident that some of the biggest announcements remain a mystery. What are they? Let’s find out together!
The First World Premieres Come Fast and Furious
Supergiant Games, best known for Bastion and Hades, is back with another roguelike adventure. For the company’s first time, it’s a direct sequel: Hades II will pit the game’s protagonist against Kronos, the Titan God of Time.
Ghost Story Games, led by Ken Levine and the creators of BioShock, have finally revealed their first game: Judas, a narrative-driven experience.
A big surprise is another entry from the Bayonetta franchise. Coming March 17th, 2023, is Bayonetta: Cereza and the Lost Demon, a new action-adventure game that dives deeper into the Bayonetta lore.
After a performance from Hozier and some more awards, we get a video for new footage from the newest Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall.
Immediately after, we get more footage from the upcoming Suicide Squad game. It’s a lengthy trailer that doubles as a touching tribute to Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman for thirty years. Geoff Keighley confirms that Conroy voices Batman for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League when it releases in 2023.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Is Officially Revealed
After accidentally leaking this week, the debut footage for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is unveiled. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Survivor is the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The single-player game features cinematic action and fast-paced combat. It’s set to release on March 17th, 2023.
At the conclusion of the trailer, voice actor Cameron Monaghan came on stage to hype Survivor up as one of the best Star Wars games of all time. We’ll be curious to see how it would rank on our list of every Star Wars game ranked. Yes, we do mean every Star Wars game.
From the creators of Celeste comes Earthblade. A brief teaser trailer highlights some gameplay, but the trailer is vague other than the game’s planned 2024 release. This one is a ways off still.
Speaking of teaser trailers, we get one for Dune Awakening, the upcoming MMORPG in the Dune universe for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The Next Game From Hideo Kojima Is A Sequel
After what felt like an eternity’s worth of speculation online, Hideo Kojima’s next project is revealed. From Kojima and Sony Interactive Entertainment is Death’s Stranding 2, the sequel to 2019’s controversial Death’s Stranding.
We’re treated to a teaser trailer that tells us, well, absolutely nothing.
On stage, Kojima mentions he can’t be specific as to what’s new for the sequel, but he wants fans to talk and speculate online to discover the hidden details in the game.
Death’s Stranding 2 stars Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker.
After commercials and the award for Best Narrative, we’re treated to a new trailer for Tekken 8. The cinematic trailer mixes story beats, in-game cutscenes, and glimpses of gameplay. We’ve also gotten confirmation for select fighters for the game’s roster. Tekken 8 will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Nightengale, the new game from the studio founded by former BioWare Aaron Flynn, gets a new trailer. After its reveal at last year’s Game Awards show, we’re shown more of what to expect from the upcoming shared-world survival game.
After the Games for Impact award, we’re treated to a new trailer for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3.
Next up, Digital Extremes (Warframe) and Airship Syndicate revealed their upcoming collaboration, Wayfinder. Closed Beta begins next week.
Halsey Takes The Stage And Performs ‘Lilith’
Before we get some Diablo IV information, singer Halsey performed the song ‘Lilith’ on stage. From there, a new trailer debuts.
Diablo IV releases June 6th, 2023. You can pre-order now for access to the game’s Open Beta.
After some more awards announcements, Keighley hypes up another world premiere:
Horizon Burning Shores is the first DLC for Horizon: Forbidden West, and it’s coming sooner than you think.
After the award for Best Action game, we get the debut trailer for the new action MMORPG from Amazon Games and Bandai Namco. It will be free-to-play and release in 2023 for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

Transformers Reactivate
Keegan-Michael Key comes on stage after some commercials to debut a new clip from the Super Mario Bros. movie. After that, Animal (yes, that Animal) comes on stage to present the award for Best Score and Music.
Don’t Nod and Focus Entertainment reveal their new action RPG. The cinematic trailer for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden gives ups a glimpse of gameplay before it ends, promising a release by the end of 2023.
From there, another Focus Entertainment game gets a trailer: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II is coming in 2023.
After that, we dive straight into another debut trailer for Meet Your Maker, releasing on April 4th, 2023.
The 2022 Game Awards Start to Enter the Home Stretch
After an ad break, we’re back for more premiere trailers as Crash Bandicoot takes the stage and announces his new game. Crash Team Rumble is a multiplayer game coming in 2023.
We get the award for Innovation in Accessibility and a new trailer for The Lords of the Fallen.
Michael Madsen comes on stage and reveals the trailer for Crime Boss Rockay City from 505 Games. Madsen stars in the game with Kim Basinger, Damion Poitier, Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, Michael Rooker, and Vanilla Ice.
Geoff teases Final Fantasy XVI footage, but first, we get some awards and then the debut of Cyberpunk DLC!
Keanu Reeves narrates the world premiere trailer for Phantom Liberty, and it also stars Idris Elba!
After that, Keighley hypes up a “global announcement” from a legendary studio that has been nominated multiple times at The Game Awards.
From Bandi Namco and FromSoftware, it’s not Elden Ring DLC; it’s an all-new Armored Core. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon launches in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and on Steam.
After more commercials, Naoki Yoshida comes on the stage to finally talk Final Fantasy XVI, tonight’s final world premiere. It releases June 22nd, 2023 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
After that, Elden Ring takes home Game of the Year and that does it!
