In honor of The Last of Us day, HBO gives us our first official trailer for the upcoming television adaptation.
One of the best PS3 games of all time, The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog, was originally released in 2013. It stars Joel and Ellie as they navigate through a post-apocalytpic style United States where a mutant outbreak infects the population. The game deals with not just the Infected enemies but also the struggles of those who survived the pandemic, both hostile and (seemingly) friendly alike.
The Last of Us television series will air on HBO. It is developed by Neil Druckmann, who led the development of the Last of Us game franchise at Naughty Dog, and Craig Mazin, best known for the HBO miniseries Chernobyl.
The show’s cast is as follows:
- Pedro Pascal as Joel
- Bella Ramsey as Ellie
- Gabriel Luna as Tommy
- Merle Dandridge as Marlene
- Anna Torv as Tess
Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Joel and Ellie respectively in the video game, have undisclosed roles in the series.
The video game version of The Last of Us was remade for the PlayStation 5 and released earlier this month. In addition to the visual overhaul, it features a host of new accessibility features.
The Last of Us will air on HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2023.
