As you continue your exploration throughout Skyloft, you might find that you can’t grab all of the rupees you want. The wallet limit that the game puts on you is really small. If you find yourself dropping money in Skyward Sword HD and wishing you could collect it all, you’re not alone! You might be looking for a wallet upgrade, and we’ll tell you exactly where to go to upgrade it!
How to Upgrade Your Wallet in Zelda: Skyward Sword
In order to upgrade your wallet in Skyward Sword HD, you’re going to have to visit Batreaux, a demon on the main island of Skyloft. Hit a grave to the right of the Skyloft Graveyard to enter the shed, and you’ll find the demon at the bottom of a ladder. Talk with him and you’ll learn that he wants to become human. If you give him Gratitude Crystals, earned by completing quests, you’ll earn the wallet upgrades, as well as other rewards.
Side quests are not required to beat the game, but the Gratitude Crystals you earn are needed to improve your wallet size. You get a Medium Wallet at 5, Big Wallet at 30, Giant Wallet at 50, and Tycoon Wallet at 80. These will increase your limit to 500, 1000, 5000, and 9000, accordingly.
If you don’t want to wait for the Big Wallet to get massive size increases, then you can buy extra wallets from Beedle. Call down Beedle’s Airshop by hitting the bell with a Slingshot, Beetle, Clawshot, or Arrows. Then, you can buy from the merchant.
These wallets each grant you 300 rupees on top of your current capacity. This means the maximum amount of rupees you can hold is 9,900 rupees; the Tycoon Wallet and all of Beedle’s Extra Wallets. The Extra Wallets cost 100 rupees each.
Other than the wallets, Batreaux gives you other rewards.
- 15 – Piece of Heart
- 30 – Cursed Medal: You can not equip a shield or open your adventure pouch, but you get more rupees and treasure.
- 40 – 300 Rupees
- 70 – 600 Rupees
