There Will Be No Full CGI Trailers at the Xbox Showcase

Xbox Showcase Starfield Direct

With the double bill of the Xbox showcase and Starfield Direct coming on June 11, fans have taken to social media to air their hopes of gameplay trailers over full CGI offerings.

Aaron Greenberg, VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, took time on Sunday to assure fans that what they’ll see will accurately represent upcoming first-party games.

Greenberg responded to fans by assuring them that all the trailers being presented at the showcase will feature “… either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.” This should be a relief for fans who don’t want to get burned by unreal expectations caused by full CGI trailers, an issue arising from past showcases across the industry.

The Xbox showcase will occur Sunday, June 11, at 10 am Pacific time / 1 pm Eastern time / 6 pm UK time, with Starfield Direct happening immediately after. Fans can catch the broadcast on the official Bethesda and Xbox channels, including YouTube and Twitch. All the live stream information is on the Xbox Showcase News website. There will also be an extended showcase on June 13 featuring in-depth interviews with developers.
