Tunic may have all the charm of old-school action RPGs, but it’s still tough. Combat in particular can be challenging for players used to a more forgiving experience. Thankfully, you aren’t without options when it comes to defense. Beyond your trusty sword, you’ll want to equip the shield. However, you won’t start out the game with one in your inventory. Instead, you’ll have to go out and find it.
Where to Find the Shield in Tunic
The shield in Tunic is located inside of the Old House. However, much like the sword, you’re going to need a key to get inside and retrieve this important item. To find the key, head east from the starting area, following the path until you find stairs leading down. Go down the stairs, and then keep to the path until you find another set of stairs. Travel down those stairs, and you’ll find yourself in front of two enemies.
Taking down both of the enemies will net you what you need: the key to the Old House. With the key in your inventory, head back to the Old House and unlock the door. Once you’re inside, head to the back of the room. Enter the door, and then immediately take the first right you see. You’ll then be heading down a dark hallway. That hallway will lead you to a dungeon. Make your way across the bridge closing the gap to spot a chest on the other side. The shield can be found inside this chest.
With the shield, it’ll be a lot easier for you to block enemy attacks. It’s a critical part of any adventurer’s arsenal. Not only does it allow you to stop environmental hazards from taking you down, but it also helps you solve certain puzzles.
