Valheim Chimney | How to Make

Building in Valheim is key to surviving, but some structures are more useful than others. This is especially true with something like a campfire, which will help keep you warm. However, without a chimney, an in-home campfire could kill your character by smoke inhalation. Fortunately, figuring out how to build a chimney shouldn’t be too much trouble.

How to Build a Chimney in Valheim

How to build a chimney in Valheim

To build a chimney in Valheim, you should first build a structure and place a hole in the floor. The hole acts as a pit to contain your campfire. After that, you can place walls around the campfire to act as a chimney, funneling smoke out of the building.

First things first: In order to place a campfire, you need to lower the ground just below your floor level. You can do this by using a hoe and aiming it at the floor.

The next step is to place a campfire down onto the dirt patch. To make this you will need five stone as well as two wood. Once it’s down, you will need a way to ventilate the smoke, assuming your structure has a roof. If this is the case, quickly break the roof so that the smoke can leave the room.

After that, it’s time to build a chimney. Begin by placing a wall around the fire place, leaving a gap open at the front. This is why it’s important to lower the floor first. Next, use three more walls to completely close in the area containing the campfire. Make sure to leave a gap open at the roof, which will allow the smoke to escape.

With all of these steps done, you’ll have effectively created a small room with a campfire in the middle and an opening at the roof. The walls act as a chimney, and the gap at the front (inside the building) acts as a fireplace. If you want, you can place a cooking station at the opening of the fireplace, though you will need two more pieces of wood to build one.

That is how to make a chimney in Valheim. Now your character will be able to stay warm without breathing in smoke from the campfire. While you’re here, be sure to check out some of our other hot Valheim guides:
