Warhammer 40k: Darktide is the latest PvE co-op experience by developers Fatshark that submerges you in the Warhammer universe. In four-player squads, players embark on missions full of bloodthirsty foes who are ready to tear you limb for limb. Obviously, being a PvE experience exclusively, it’s no secret the game would be more enjoyable if you can team up with your best group of friends. That’s why we’re here to answer if the game has crossplay. There is good and bad news on that front, so read on to find out.
Does Warhammer 40k: Darktide Have Crossplay?
Warhammer 40k: Darktide currently does not support crossplay between versions or consoles. Thankfully, cross-platform support will be added soon. As of now, players can not play Darktide crossplay on PC, across the Steam and Gamepass versions. That means regardless if you’re both playing on PC, if you have the Steam version, and your friend the GamePass version, you will not be able to play Darktide crossplay with each other. You can, however, play with other players on Steam, the same goes for GamePass.
Developers Fatshark has said that the feature to play crossplay with friends between the two PC versions will come shortly after launch. Though that timeline seems to keep stretching further. That may be because they are first focused on getting the console release on Xbox Series X|S out first, which was originally announced to arrive shortly after the launch, though it appears early 2023 is the newly expected timeline for the console release.
In that regard, developers Fatshark have also announced they fully intend to implement crossplay between PC and Consoles, though there is no expected date for it yet. So, developers have confirmed that Warhammer 40k: Darktide will eventually have crossplay between versions and consoles. When crossplay will be implemented into the game, however, remains a mystery. If we had to guess, we suspect crossplay for both PC versions and the console will come in the first quarter of 2023, around when the Xbox version releases, though that is purely speculative.
