WATCH: Dr. Dre Stars in GTA Online: The Contract’s Latest Online DLC

Franklin Clinton first appeared as a character in 2013’s Grand Theft Auto 5. While he is a gang member involved in plenty of crimes, he is also quite ambitious and hoping for bigger things. The latest trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online’s The Contract shows that he has accomplished his goals.

The new DLC features Franklin as a big-shot agent. And he is trying to lure in Dr. Dre to become one of his clients. The agency run by Franklin, though, isn’t necessarily there to manage talent. It is to use his experience to get people out of sticky situations. “I’m a hustler that made it,” he says. “Now I work with rich folk who got rich folk problems. And they don’t know how to deal with it. But damn, man, I miss getting these hands dirty.”

Dre’s problem involves a lost phone. And the phone that is missing contains new music that the rap superstar wants to record. A synopsis for the story explains players will go, “from the mean streets of Franklin’s old neighborhood to the hottest parties in the city, from debaucherous mansions to the offices of the FIB and everywhere in between as you join Franklin, expert hacker Imani, Chop the Dog, and crew to secure Dr. Dre’s precious tracks and return them to their rightful owner.”

The hook is that there actually is new music that will debut in the game. And not just from Dre but Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and a host of other artists. Snoop actually leaked the news a few months ago during a Rolling Stone interview saying, “I do know [Dr. Dre] is in the studio… I do know he’s making great f***ing music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”
