Fans of cozy, cute games can rejoice because the next Wholesome Games Direct has been announced. The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 10, at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 6 pm CET on the Wholesome Games Twitch and YouTube Channels. The event began in 2020 as a response to the cancellation of events worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is set to showcase over 70 upcoming games, including new footage, surprise announcements, and more. The hour-long show has become a must-watch for fans of indie games and everything adorable since its inception and offers a spotlight on smaller creators that otherwise get little coverage.
In previous years, the event highlighted games such as Ooblets, currently one of our favorite cozy games for Nintendo Switch. This is a farming/creature collecting game where, instead of fighting, your little creatures have dance-offs. Other notable highlights have been Button City, Wytchwood, Pupperazzi, and Bear and Breakfast, all of which have gone on to be indie smashes.
This year’s event hasn’t revealed a lineup yet, but several developers have taken to social media to announce their participation. Swedish studio Stardust will showcase their upcoming witchy farming sim, Grimoire Groves. In addition, SomeHumbleOnion will showcase the newly named Smushi Come Home (formerly Shumi Come Home), and Pasta Games with developer Devolver Digital will showcase KarmaZoo.
This is only a fraction of what will be showcased at the event, and it promises to be a packed hour. Stay tuned for further updates as they come and for full coverage of the event after it happens.
