As you crash through the skies in Zelda: Skyward Sword, you might be wanting a better ranged attack. The Slingshot is nice and all, but you’re missing the range and damage that you could potentially have. If you’ve played older Zelda games, perhaps you’re looking to get your hands on a bow. The Bow is a trademark item from Zelda games, and will be necessary to complete your adventure. However, you get this great tool very late in Zelda: Skyward Sword. When does it come around?
How to Get the Bow in Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
To get your bow in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, you’re going to need to go to the Sandship Dungeon, which is the fifth dungeon in Skyward Sword. In this dungeon, you’ll need to defeat the LD-002G Scervo miniboss within the Sandship. Defeating the boss will lead you to the Bow item, which uses Arrows to deal more damage and increase your range.
This weapon is powerful in Skyward Sword, but is stuck with the motion control elements. To shoot a bow, you have to hold one Joycon, pull the other one back, and direct your shot. You can do it without motion controls by holding ZR and hitting L when you’re ready to fire, which might be easier; especially for handheld players!
Other than for damage and puzzles, this can be shot at items to pin them to a wall, which can make it easier to collect. You even get to keep the arrow!
Like many weapons and tools, the Bow can be upgraded. These upgrades boost the damage and range of the weapon, making it even more versatile.
- Iron Bow: 3x Tumbleweeds, 1x Evil Crystal, 3x Monster Claws, 2x Eldin Ores, 50 Rupees.
- Sacred Bow: 5x Tumbleweeds, 2x Evil Crystals, 3x Lizard Tails, 1x Goddess Plume, 100 Rupees.
These upgrades are by no means required, but they greatly improve how the bow can handle enemies and puzzles alike.
