So, you’ve gotten some bombs in hand, and you’ve found some rolling paths in Zelda: Skyward Sword. The Earth Temple is full of these little paths that you need fairly bomb good accuracy to clear out. And throwing the bombs is just not going to be enough! Because of that, it’s important to learn how to roll bombs in Skyward Sword HD. If you’re having trouble figuring out the motions, this guide will help you out.
How to Roll Bombs in Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
In order to roll bombs in Skyward Sword HD, you’ll need to find a bomb plant, or have your Bomb Bag equipped. Grab the plant (or press ZL to take a bomb out of the bag) to bring the bomb over Link’s head. Then, point the Joycon at the ground to start the roll, and release ZL as you lift the controller upwards to drop the bomb. If you don’t use motion controls, you can instead move the right stick downwards and press ZL to roll the bomb.
Timing is key with bomb rolling via motion controls! Practice letting the bomb go right as Link’s arm comes upwards. This will give you a little bit extra accuracy, but at the cost of using the Joycon’s gyro controls. They aren’t bad at all, but they can be finicky, especially with older controllers.
If you’re using the stick control, then this shouldn’t be too tricky. It’s a pretty similar “moving forward” motion, though you still need to time it well if you want maximum distance! Give it a few tries in a safe area if you find yourself having trouble with the motion.
The rolling puzzles are quite clear, with barriers on either side of the path. Rolling bombs down these paths will keep you safe while blowing up your targets.
If you want to throw instead, you do just the opposite; start by pointing the controller or stick upwards, and move it downwards while releasing ZL at he right time.
