The highly anticipated Animal Crossing New Horizons has finally arrived and fans everywhere are experiencing the beloved franchise for the first time on the Nintendo Switch. In New Horizons, players will get to play on their very own island but will be met with a villager limit. In this guide, we will take a look at the Animal Crossing New Horizons villager limit to determine how many villagers you can have.
How Many Villagers can you have in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
While there are a lot of villagers for players to meet in Animal Crossing New Horizon’s, only ten can be on your island at a time. With nearly 400 villagers in the game, this might be a bit disappointing to some players who like to have a lot of company. However, not all hope is lost — you will be able to change out which NPCs are living on your island whenever you’d like.
Almost half of these NPCs in New Horizons will be characters from the previous games, like Curlos, Curt, Dizzy, Doc, Drift, and Tank, along with a handful of new characters. So if you’re a long time fan of the franchise, you’ll likely see some familiar faces every now and then, but will still get the chance to meet some new characters.
In addition to the villagers on your island, players will be able to have friends visit them in local and online multiplayer. Currently, up to eight people will be able to visit a player’s island at one time, making things a little less lonely.
Additionally, players will be able to have up to eight family members on a Switch console living in the same town. So, between family members, friends, and NPCs, the Animal Crossing New Horizons villager limit isn’t too bad. Hopefully, your island will begin filling up in no time!
