Masahiro Sakurai, game director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, announced today that Min Min from ARMS will be the newest character to join the game’s roster through the upcoming challenger pack on June 29.
Sakurai made the announcement earlier today through a special at-home broadcast where he revealed that the character who will become available for players in the sixth challenger pack DLC is none other than Min Min from the Nintendo Switch game ARMS. If you’re not familiar with the game, essentially, characters battle against each other with extendable arms that resemble springs.
Min Min’s planned move set and abilities were explained in the showcase, and Sakurai delivered an in-depth explanation of each one of fighter’s attacks and their tactical advantages so players can quickly learn how to make the most of this character to best their opponents in battle.
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Min Min character announcement also covered the music tracks that will be included in this DLC, which are all part of the original ARMS soundtrack. Further, Sakurai revealed the new stage included in Min Min’s challenger pack will be called “Spring Stadium” and is designed to include elements from the ARMS game, such as a billboard where you can see a showcase of various ARMS characters.
The stage itself features a main central platform that encourages players to mind their surroundings while they fight, offering a better chance to use the environment to knock their opponents off the stage. The edges of the platform have jump panels that players can use tactically to move across the level, or even do damage to opponents if they are standing too close to them. Further, the stage also has arches that act as a sort of ceiling that allows players to bounce opponents off the platform.
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Min Min character pack will release June 29 for $5.99, or as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for $29.99, which grants access to Min Min’s challenger pack, as well as instant access to the upcoming five challenger packs as they release.
