Hot off the success of The Batman, Warner Bros. Games today announced the Gotham Knights release date. This latest game based on DC Comics launches for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on October 25, 2022. The title from WB Games Montreal was first slated to land in 2021, before facing several delays. Now that we have a concrete release date, hype levels will no doubt increase in the months leading up to its launch.
Gotham Knights Release Date Confirmed for October 25
Yes, Gotham Knights will now come out on October 25, 2022. That’s just a week before Halloween, which makes sense given the game’s loose adaption of elements of the Batman comic The Long Halloween.
This news is sure to come as a pleasant surprise to DC fans, as details have been slim on the game in recent months. First announced alongside Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League in summer 2020, Gotham Knights then went quiet. Confirmed for PC, then-current consoles, as well as next-gen hardware, it then didn’t make its 2021 release window. The game was quietly delayed, and only today was given this updated release window. For those keeping track, there’s still no news on the Suicide Squad game from Rocksteady, which was equally promised for 2021 before losing its release date.
Unlike other DC Comics games, Gotham Knights isn’t set within the Arkham continuity. Instead, you and three friends play as Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin. In the story, Batman has seemingly died under mysterious circumstances, leaving it up to the sidekicks to save Gotham from the Court of Owls. Our money is still on a third-act Batman reveal, though the focus is on supporting characters. Combining an open world with fluid combat, it’s a superhero game unlike previous Bat-focused entries.
Given WB Games Montreal’s previous experience with Batman: Arkham Origins, expectations are high for Gotham Knights. Now that it has a confirmed release date, the hype will no doubt skyrocket.
