Horizon Forbidden West’s Aloy Comes to Fortnite

Horizon Forbidden West Aloy Fortnite

The marketing campaign for the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive Horizon Forbidden West is truly underway. The game’s protagonist, Aloy, will launch as a purchasable skin on the Fortnite store.

Revealed in a post on the PlayStation Blog on April 13, 2021, Fortnite players will be able to purchase the Aloy skin – which comes with a Blaze Canister Back Bling, a Glinthawk glider, and an exclusive pickaxe — starting April 15. Additionally, an exclusive loading screen is included, as well as a PS5-exclusive Ice Hunter costume, set to preview Aloy’s look in the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West. Prices for these DLCs have yet to be confirmed, but you can expect the Aloy skin to cost 1,500 V-Bucks on its own, and the bundle as a whole to be around 2,200 V-Bucks. Alongside the new cosmetics is the Aloy Cup, a PlayStation-exclusive mode focusing on bow-and-arrow combat, in keeping with the gameplay of Horizon Zero Dawn.

More than just a new way for players to customize their Fortnite experience, this partnership is proof that the Horizon franchise is gearing up for its next big release, using this to get back into players’ minds before more reveals come later down the line, with more information no doubt set to release this summer. It’s also not the first time a PlayStation character has made its way into Fortnite, with God of War’s Kratos released as a skin in December 2020. Perhaps Aloy’s appearance is a sign of further PlayStation icons making their way to the wildly popular battle royale game.

With rumors swirling that Horizon Forbidden West would follow the same fate as other 2021 releases like Deathloop in being delayed, this is the best confirmation yet that the game will still be released this year. While a firm release date has yet to be announced, the game was revealed at the PlayStation 5 event last summer with a 2021 launch in mind. We may not know exactly when we’ll get to play as Aloy in a Horizon game next, but Fortnite is there to make that wait a little easier.
