Released in November of 2020, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla become the 12th installment of the popular game series. It was also the most successful, selling the most copies in the first week than any other iteration of the game.

In the Spring of 2021, the game introduced a major expansion where players ventured into both Ireland and France. And now, for the first time in Assassin’s Creed history, the second year of updates will come out in 2022.

The two biggest changes to the next year will be a massive expansion of Ragnarok and the reintroduction of the popular character Kassandra.

According to Euro Gamer, “Assassin’s Creed Stories will begin in Odyssey and pick up Kassandra’s story post-game, when the now-immortal hero begins a fresh quest to travel the world and track down Isu artifacts. This leads to her appearance in Valhalla, where Eivor will encounter Kassandra in a new area on the Scottish island of Skye.”

The Ragnarok expansion will focus heavily on Odin and his son Baldr. The main villain of the story will be Surtur. Fans of the Marvel Universe will recognize Surtur from the hit film, Thor: Ragnarok.

Ubisoft producer José Araiza said during an interview that gamers can expect more expansions in the future. He told Tom Phillips:

“The reason why there’s a Year 2 is because we’re not lacking for ideas And I think you probably noticed this time around, we paid a lot more attention to the community for some of the ideas and some of the evolution, like some of the changes to river raids for example. We’ve been listening a lot to the community and sort of also spying on forums and whatnot, collecting information.”

The Kassandra story DLC will be released tomorrow, December 14th. The Ragnarok expansion will be coming to consoles in March of 2022.
