Time seems to be moving by quickly as we roll directly into March 2023. Though Spring is on the way, there’s still a chill in the air for the time being. Some may find it bracing as it “builds character” and reminds you that the world can still be cool. Of course, there’s no problem if it makes you want to stay inside where it’s warm and there are video games. For those subscribed to PS Plus, there are three free new titles to play. Here’s a look at the games you’ll gain access to starting on Tuesday, March 7.

The PS Plus Essential free games for March 2023 are Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons, and Code Vein.

If it’s not Call of Duty appearing all over the front pages of FPS-Weekly, then it’s Battlefield. Having run out of past and fictionalized modern conflicts (at least for now) the developers have taken the series to the future. With Battlefield 2042, players take control of soldiers fighting in the not-so-distant future. The big change is that many of the conflicts take place in urban environments which have a slightly futuristic look to them. The biggest potential draw is all the weapons the developers have come up with for this time period and there’s still a lot of online competitive action to seek out.

Minecraft is still going strong after so many years with people still discovering new and fun ways to play it. Since then, the series has expanded to include other genres, a prime example being Minecraft Dungeons. This is an isometric action-RPG affair where your Minecraft character is crawling through dungeons. You get to choose your class, develop your abilities, get loot, slay enemies and bosses, and craft as you go. Like the original version of the game, it can be enjoyable on your own or with others.

While the vampire craze may be over, it will still be a popular subject. If it’s not in literature or television, then it’s in video games. However, Code Vein has a somewhat different take on vampires aside from its anime art style. This game has you playing as a custom fighter known as a revenant. You can equip them as you like with a variety of weapon types, armor, and skills to tear enemies apart. On top of that, you’ll gain access to special equipment made specifically for the purpose of draining blood to increase your strength.
