Nintendo has announced via Twitter that the upcoming Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has been delayed. The reason behind this is “recent world events,” undoubtedly referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was initially slated to release on April 8th for Nintendo Switch. The tweet states that people should “stay tuned for updates on a new release date.”

While Advance Wars doesn’t reflect the reality of real-world battles, it’s still a tactical war game. Nintendo has recognized that releasing such a game during a time of war isn’t a great idea.

It also appears that the game has been completely removed from the Nintendo eShop.

The game’s trailers are still available from Nintendo’s YouTube page, so it hasn’t been entirely scrubbed from the internet.

Logically, Nintendo will wait for the war in Ukraine to de-escalate before making a decision about releasing Advance Wars. With the game’s initial release date being December 3rd before receiving a delay, it would have been interesting to see if Nintendo removed it from the eShop post-release.
