The Mine Cart Puzzle questline is also known as the ‘Night on The Great Mine’ quest in Honkai Star Rail. If you’re stuck trying to figure out how to solve these mine cart puzzles, don’t sweat! We’re here to make things simple and easy for you to follow. Now, let’s head into the dusty Great Mines!

 

How To Unlock Night on the Great Mine Questline

Be sure to have completed a large part of the main story in Jarilo-VI; that’s the only way to trigger this side quest. Head over to Boulder Town. You’ll see a woman – Antonia, with an exclamation point above her head. Talk to her, and this will trigger the quest. You’ll be led into the mines to meet an old miner trying to pass on his wisdom to his apprentice before his retirement.

 

How To Solve the Mine Cart Puzzles

There are different mechanics that apply to the different mine carts. Let’s break it down for you:

• Ore mine carts need to reach the end with a barrier that is shining yellow light.
• Normal empty mine carts need to reach the end with a barrier shining in blue light.
• Simply push the cart for it to move forward.
• You can change the tracks with the toggle located on the sides of the tracks.
• Some carts require to be filled with ore first, so make sure to move the empty carts to the ore stack and fill it up.

Note: After every puzzle, be sure to talk to the Senior Mine Cart Operator for your rewards. Then, talk to him again to start the next puzzle. Additionally, when pushing the carts, you have to be behind them otherwise, the cart won’t move, and you’ll get an error. To reset the puzzles, simply talk to the Senior Mine Cart Operator, and the option should come up.

 

Mine Cart Puzzle Solutions Day 1

First puzzle

This is just an entry point to the mine cart puzzles, so it’s the easiest to complete. Here’s what you have to do:

1. Go to the toggle and switch the tracks near the Space Anchor so it leads to the blue barrier.
2. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the mine cart so it leads to the blue barrier.
3. Go to the mine cart and push it.

 

Second puzzle

This time there are two mine carts, one loaded and one empty. Here’s how to solve it:

1. Push the empty mine cart to the barrier with no color.
2. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart to change the tracks and lead it to the Space Anchor.
3. Push the loaded mine cart.
4. Switch the tracks near the Space Anchor so it leads to the yellow barrier.
5. Push the loaded mine cart, and it will lead to the yellow barrier.
6. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart so it leads to the barrier with no color.
7. Push the empty mine cart and switch the same track again.
8. Switch the track near the loaded mine cart so it leads to the blue barrier.
9. Push the empty mine cart.

 

Third puzzle

Now that that’s sorted, you are introduced to loading up the ore into your mine carts. Here’s how to solve this one:

1. Push the empty cart towards the barrier with no color.
2. Change the tracks with the toggle near the empty cart so it leads to the pile of ore.
3. Push the empty cart towards the ore and fill it up.
4. Push the loaded cart back to the barrier with no color.
5. Switch the tracks so it leads back to the Space Anchor.
6. Push the cart to the end of the barrier with no color.
7. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the Space Anchor so it leads to the yellow barrier.
8. Push the cart to the yellow barrier.

There you go! You’ve completed the first day of the mine cart puzzle. You should be rewarded with some rather bountiful treasure chests. Let’s move on to the second day of the puzzles.

 

Mine Cart Puzzle Solutions Day 2

First puzzle (Basic treasure)

To get to the first puzzle, all you have to do is go back to the old miner and trigger his dialogue. Now you have three more puzzles for the day. Let’s get to it!

1. Change the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart.
2. Push the empty mine cart, and it should lead to the blue barrier.
3. Change the tracks with the same toggle again.
4. Push the loaded mine cart, and it should occupy the space of the previous empty cart.
5. Change the tracks with the previous toggle and the toggle near the empty mine cart by the blue barrier. There are two toggles to switch here.
6. Push the loaded mine cart.
7. Switch the tracks with the middle toggle and push the loaded mine cart to the yellow barrier.

 

Second puzzle (Basic treasure)

This second puzzle of the day has the same layout with different barrier placements to make it more challenging for you. Here’s how you can solve it:

1. Change the cart tracks with the toggle closest to the empty mine cart at the yellow barrier.
2. Push the empty mine cart, and it should end up on the other end of the track.
3. Switch the same toggle again and push the loaded mine cart into the previous mine cart’s position.
4. Now, switch the tracks one time with the same toggle and another time with the toggle near the empty mine cart.
5. Push the loaded mine cart to the other end near the empty mine cart.
6. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart, then push the empty mine cart back to its original position.
7. Change the tracks with the toggle right next to the empty mine cart and push the empty mine cart to the blue barrier.
8. Switch the tracks once with the toggle near the colorless barrier and another time with the toggle near the yellow barrier.
9. Now, push the loaded mine cart to the yellow barrier.

 

Third puzzle (Precious treasure)

The last puzzle for the day features a completely different layout which you can solve by:

1. Push the loaded mine cart to the yellow barrier.
2. Change the tracks with the middle toggle as well as the toggle near the tracks with the ore and yellow barrier. There are two toggles to switch this time.
3. Push the empty mine cart to the spot next to the loaded mine cart, then switch the tracks with the nearest toggle.
4. Push the empty mine cart to the pile of ore, then load it up.
5. Now, push it back into the spot next to the other loaded cart and switch the same toggle again.
6. Push the newly loaded mine cart back to its original position.
7. Switch the tracks with the toggle nearest to the Space Anchor and newly loaded mine cart.
8. Push the newly loaded mine cart to the yellow barrier.

 

Mine Cart Puzzle Solutions Day 3

First puzzle (Basic treasure)

Things get a little more twisty and complicated on Day 3, but we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to solve the first puzzle:

1. Push the empty mine cart to the yellow barrier.
2. Switch the tracks by interacting with the toggle next to the empty mine cart twice.
3. Push the empty mine cart, and it should stop in the middle of the tracks.
4. Switch the tracks back again by interacting with the same toggle twice. The tracks should switch to the middle track.
5. Push the loaded mine cart, and it should lead down to the yellow barrier.
6. Change the tracks with the same toggle again twice and push the loaded mine cart. It should end up in the empty mine cart’s original position.
7. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart.
8. Push the empty mine cart to the ore filling area and load up the ore.
9. Change the tracks again twice with the toggle near the yellow barrier.
10. Push the newly loaded mine cart to the yellow barrier.

 

Second puzzle (Bountiful treasure)

Arguably the hardest mine cart puzzle in the series, here’s where most players tend to spend more time or get stuck entirely. Let’s help you with that:

1. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the empty mine cart and the toggle near the loaded mine cart with the yellow barrier.
2. Push the empty mine cart.
3. Switch the track again with the same toggle that was near the empty mine cart by the yellow barrier.
4. Push the loaded mine cart with the blue barrier.
5. Change tracks with the same toggle again and push the loaded mine cart into position next to the empty mine cart.
6. Swap the tracks with the middle toggle and push the loaded mine cart to the colorless barrier.
7. Change the tracks with the middle toggle again and push the empty mine cart back into its original position.
8. Press the toggle near the empty mine cart and push the empty mine cart to the blue barrier.
9. Now, change the tracks by using the middle toggle and the toggle near the yellow barrier.
10. Push the loaded mine cart located at the colorless barrier.
11. Switch tracks one last time with the middle toggle and push the loaded mine cart from the colorless barrier to the yellow barrier.

 

Third puzzle (Precious treasure)

We’re finally at the last mine cart puzzle of the day and ever, well, for now at least. We never know if miHoYo might bring it back again in the future with more variety and challenges. Anyway, let’s get on with it!

1. Push the loaded mine cart, and it should end up next to the empty mine cart.
2. Switch the tracks with the toggle nearest to the ores and push the loaded mine cart. It should end up at the colorless barrier.
3. Change the tracks with the middle toggle and push the empty mine cart that’s located on the other end, far from the ores. It should end up right next to the other empty mine cart. 
4. Then change tracks again with the toggle nearest to the ores.
5. Push the empty mine cart and load it up with ores. Then push it back next to the empty mine cart.
6. Interact with the same toggle again and push the newly loaded mine cart. It should be back to its original position.
7. Head over to the toggle nearest to the Space Anchor and switch the tracks. 
8. Push the newly loaded mine cart, and it should end up at the yellow barrier.
9. Head back to the toggle near the ores and switch the tracks. 
10. Push the empty mine cart and load it up with ores, then push it back to its original location.
11. Go to the middle toggle and switch the tracks. Then, push the originally loaded mine cart that was moved at the start. It should stop in the middle of the tracks near the toggle by the ores.
12. Switch the tracks with the toggle near the Space Anchor and the middle toggle. 
13. Push the loaded mine cart into position.
