Remember when the developers of Marvel’s Avengers said they were committed to NOT adding paid timed experience XP boosters? A week after the game was added to Xbox Game Pass, that’s exactly what they’ve done.

In a post on the game’s official website last year they specifically said, “We’ve also committed that content purchasable with real money in Marvel’s Avengers will be aesthetic-only additions.”

It’s amazing what can happen in a year and now the in-game marketplace is selling experience point boosters for real-world money.

And it’s not just one booster, there are three options, allowing for 1.5x boosts for one day, three days, or an entire week.

Players need to shell out 500 credits for a week-long boost, or $5 per week.

Immediately after the release of XP boosts fans were quick to complain that the XP Boosts arrived after developer Crystal Dynamics launched a leveling slowdown in March of this year.

In perhaps one of the most confusing parts of the launch, the developer recently said players were leveling up to fast. Allowing players to buy XP boosters seems like a way to cause faster leveling up.

A quick search on Twitter shows exactly how mad Avengers fans are with the sudden shift in promises.

There’s no official statement from the game’s developers at this time.
