In order to play co-op multiplayer in Baldur’s Gate 3, you are going to need to host either a local or online game via, the option in the main menu. To host a game, all you need to is click the option that says multiplayer, as shown in the image above.

Next, depending on your preference and situation, click either the Internet or LAN host game options. LAN is generally more for local networks, so if you are playing with a friend or relative in the same house on a local network, this is the option would be the best one for you. To host a LAN game, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Click the LAN menu option
  2. Click Host Game
  3. Have your friend join the game when it shows up under lobbies
  4. Have the host and player ready up and click start

As a side note, you can also have players join LAN games via direct connect, and this will require you to send them a server ID. You can get this ID by clicking the “copy to clipboard,” option as shown below. Further, you can also change various options when you host both Internet and LAN games.
