If you’re itching for some Modern Warfare II news, mark your calendar for Call of Duty Next. Activision announced the upcoming showcase for their marquee franchise today on the Call of Duty blog.
On September 15th, we will learn “what the imminent future of Call of Duty will look like.” Details will be made available for Modern Warfare II, the future of Warzone, and more. In addition to the Modern Warfare II multiplayer reveal, the blog teases information on “redacted” and the mobile version of COD.
In addition to the announcement of the Call of Duty Next showcase, we have some concrete information for the upcoming Modern Warfare II beta.
The first weekend of the beta will be available exclusively for PlayStation users. Early Access begins September 16-17, with the open beta taking place on the 18th-20th. The following weekend will be open to all platforms. Early Access begins September 22-23, with the open beta running the 24th-26th. The second weekend will also feature crossplay between all platforms.

As a reminder, Raven Software, the developers of Warzone, saw their QA department formally unionize this year. Activision opened collective bargaining with the union in June.
We also recently saw major publishers comment on the upcoming Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Naturally, Call of Duty was brought up; everybody but Sony seemed to believe they could compete with the mega-popular FPS franchise.
